Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, author of the Zohar, spent thirteen years studying Torah in a cave with his son. Fed only by his learning and a carob tree that G-d caused to grow inside the cave, Rabbi Shimon brought a new light into the world, the light of the Kabala.
